Verifactu-ready POS

TPV with Verifactu built in — automatic compliance from your first ticket

Hospitality businesses in Spain must use a Verifactu-compatible POS (VERI*FACTU) under Real Decreto 1007/2023 — from 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for autónomos. brasio is a Veri*Factu-compliant SIF (Sistema Informático de Facturación) that generates, signs and submits every fiscal record to the AEAT automatically. No extra module, no extra configuration.

What is Verifactu?

Verifactu explained for bar and restaurant owners

Verifactu is the invoice-verification system required by Real Decreto 1007/2023 from all businesses that issue receipts or simplified invoices. It requires the POS software (called a SIF, Sistema Informático de Facturación) to send every billing record to the Tax Agency (AEAT) in real time, with a digital signature and a verifiable QR code on the customer receipt.

The aim is to eliminate tax fraud in the service sector. For the honest bar owner it changes nothing day-to-day — it is something the POS does silently in the background.

How brasio handles Verifactu

Fully automated. Nothing extra for you to do.

Automatic submission per ticket

Every time you close a bill, brasio generates a fiscal record and sends it to the AEAT in real time. No button to press, no manual export.

Signed XML with hash chain

The fiscal record includes a cryptographic hash that chains each ticket to the previous one. Any subsequent tampering is detectable by the AEAT.

Verifiable QR on the receipt

The QR code on the customer receipt lets anyone verify the authenticity of the record on the AEAT website in real time.

Queue and retry if AEAT is down

If the AEAT has a temporary outage, brasio queues the record and retries automatically. Your service is not interrupted by a technical issue on the tax authority side.

No extra setup

There is no Verifactu module to activate or extra cost to pay. All brasio plans include full compliance from day one.

Declaración Responsable included

brasio signs a Declaración Responsable as a SIF, covering the technical requirements: integrity, immutability, traceability and AEAT consultation screen.

What if the AEAT is unavailable?

Your service does not stop if the AEAT goes down

The AEAT has maintenance windows and occasional outages. brasio is designed so that does not affect your service:

  • Tickets are issued normally even if the AEAT is down
  • Records are queued locally and sent as soon as the AEAT is back online
  • Submission logs are audited internally — we always know what has been sent and what is pending
  • Pending records from the previous day are sent at the start of the next service

Penalty risk

What happens if a business does not use a Verifactu-compliant POS?

Law 11/2021 on tax fraud prevention establishes fines of up to €50,000 for the use of dual-use or non-compliant software. Non-compliance with RD 1007/2023 means the POS cannot generate fiscally valid records, which can lead to tax inspections, adjustments and fines. Following Royal Decree-Law 15/2025, the mandatory date is 1 January 2027 for companies and 1 July 2027 for autónomos and SMEs.

Frequently asked questions about Verifactu

When does Verifactu become mandatory for bars and restaurants?
Real Decreto 1007/2023 approved a phased rollout, with dates extended by Royal Decree-Law 15/2025: companies that pay corporate tax from 1 January 2027, and SMEs and freelancers (hospitality included) from 1 July 2027. Check the updated calendar on aeat.es — the specific date may be adjusted by ministerial resolution.
What is a SIF and why does my POS need to be one?
SIF stands for Sistema Informático de Facturación — the official term for compliant billing software under RD 1007/2023. To be legal, a SIF must meet requirements for integrity, immutability, traceability, accessibility and record retention. brasio meets all of them.
Can I keep my old POS if it adds a Verifactu module?
It depends. The module must properly meet all technical requirements of RD 1007/2023 and carry the manufacturer's declaración responsable. Many legacy POS vendors are offering paid add-on modules; with brasio it is included in the base price.
What information does the Verifactu QR on the receipt contain?
The QR contains the fiscal record identifier, the cryptographic hash of the ticket, the issuer's tax number (NIF) and the date. Anyone can scan it and verify authenticity on the AEAT portal in real time.
Does Verifactu work offline if the internet goes down?
Partially. brasio can queue fiscal records if the AEAT has an outage, but issuing receipts with full fiscal validity requires an internet connection. This is a technical requirement of the Verifactu system itself.
Does Verifactu apply to all payment methods — cash and card?
Yes. Verifactu applies to all issued receipts regardless of payment method. Both cash payments and card payments generate their own signed fiscal record.
