Gift vouchers (gift cards)

Gift vouchers
Also known as: gift card, gift certificate, vale regalo, vale, tarjeta regalo.
brasio's gift vouchers are issued from the till, can be emailed to the recipient (or printed as a PDF), and are redeemed as a payment method at the cash flow. Each voucher has a unique code, a starting value, a running remaining balance, and an expiry date.
Where to find them
On the terminal, go to Admin → Vales (route /admin/vales). The screen is titled Vales regalo (Gift vouchers).
The voucher list
The list shows every voucher issued by your venue with these columns:
- Código — the voucher code (also what the recipient brings to redeem).
- Destinatario — recipient name and email.
- Valor — original face value.
- Saldo — remaining balance after partial redemptions.
- Caduca — expiry date.
- Estado — Activo / Canjeado / Caducado / Anulado.
- Acciones — PDF to download the printable voucher.
Filter by status with the chips at the top: Todos · Activos · Canjeados · Caducados · Anulados.
Issue a new voucher
- Tap Emitir nuevo vale (top-right of the vales screen).
- Fill in the issue modal:
- Importe (EUR) — face value. Minimum €1.00.
- Nombre del destinatario — e.g. Ana García.
- Email del destinatario — optional, but required if you want brasio to email the voucher.
- De (remitente) — sender name (e.g. Carlos).
- Caducidad (días) — default 90 days. Set whatever your policy allows.
- Mensaje (opcional) — a personalised note (¡Feliz cumpleaños! ✨) that appears on the printable voucher.
- Enviar el vale por email al destinatario — tick to email the PDF to the recipient automatically.
- Enter the PIN de encargado (manager PIN). Voucher issuance is gated to managers and owners.
- Tap Emitir vale.
On success the modal shows:
- The Código del vale (this is what the recipient brings to redeem).
- The expiry date.
- Descargar PDF — for printing on receipt-printer-friendly format.
- A confirmation that the email was queued (if you ticked the box).
- Emitir otro — to issue another straight away.
Redeem a voucher at the till
- At the table or bar tab, take payment as usual: tap Cobrar (charge).
- In the payment screen, pick Vale as the payment method.
- The Canjear vale modal opens — Aplicando
{amount}. - Type or paste the Código del vale.
- Tap Canjear.
brasio validates the code, applies the voucher balance to the ticket, and updates the running balance:
- If the voucher covers the whole ticket, the ticket closes.
- If the voucher partially covers the ticket, the remaining amount becomes due via another method (cash or card). Pick that next in the payment screen.
- If the voucher balance is larger than the ticket, the difference stays on the voucher for next time.
The voucher's status moves from Activo to Canjeado only when its remaining balance reaches zero.
Expiry and the nightly sweep
Vouchers carry a hard expiry date. brasio runs a nightly sweep that moves vouchers past their expiry from Activo to Caducado automatically; an expired voucher cannot be redeemed at the till. If a customer arrives with an expired voucher, your call as the venue: issue a new one, decline, or extend — manual policy.
On the customer-facing side
A purchased voucher comes with:
- A printable / emailable PDF showing the code, value, recipient and sender names, the personal message, and the expiry.
- A unique code the recipient brings to the venue (typed at the till during redemption, or scanned if printed).
brasio does not today ship a public web page where customers can self-serve buy a voucher; vouchers are issued at the venue (by phone, in person, or as a manual sale at the till). Talk to us if a public buy-online page would help your business.
Not working?
- Emitir nuevo vale is greyed out: you need a manager or owner PIN.
- The recipient says they didn't get the email: check the Email del destinatario field for typos; resend by re-issuing or downloading the PDF and forwarding it yourself.
- The code doesn't validate at the till: make sure you typed it exactly (case-insensitive, but the dash positions matter). Check the voucher isn't Caducado or Canjeado.
- The voucher's saldo is wrong: the running balance only decreases when a voucher is successfully redeemed; voided payments reverse it. Check the voucher's history in the list.
