Tables and shifts: the day-to-day at the venue

Also known as: floor plan, plano, mesas, tabs, abrir cuenta, transfer table, mover cuenta, split tab, dividir cuenta, open a tab, daily service flow.

The usual flow for a server on brasio is: PIN → floor plan → table → order → payment → table free. Everything revolves around the floor plan: it's the first thing you see on entry and where you come back to after every action.

1. Start your shift

  1. On the terminal, enter your 4-digit PIN.
  2. brasio welcomes you and opens your shift. From this point on, every order you take is tied to your name.
  3. If it's the first shift of the day, the system asks for the opening cash float in the drawer. Count what's there and confirm.

If the venue already had a shift open from the previous service, you just resume it.

2. The floor plan

After signing in, you see the venue's floor plan full screen: each table with its number and state (free, occupied, awaiting payment). The floor plan is always active in the background — when you finish doing something on a table, brasio comes back here on its own.

  • Free table (grey): tap to open a new order.
  • Occupied table (colour): tap to see the current order, add products or take payment.
  • Table with pending items (flashing): products have been sent to the kitchen but not paid yet.

3. Take an order

  1. Tap the table.
  2. The detail opens. Enter how many guests there are (it only affects the report, not the price).
  3. Look for products in the list or use the search bar at the top (typing starts filtering immediately).
  4. Tap a product to add it. If it has modifiers, brasio opens the selector. See Modifiers: optional and required.
  5. To send the new products to the kitchen, tap Send. The course tickets print. See Kitchen tickets and course grouping.

If you leave the detail screen untouched for 10 seconds, brasio goes back to the floor plan automatically. This prevents a server from walking away and leaving the table detail visible to everyone.

4. Take payment

In the table detail, tap Pay. Pick a method (Cash, Card, Mixed). For card, see Connect your SumUp card reader. On confirmation, the receipt prints and the table goes back to free.

5. Take a break

If you take a break, tap your name in the top-right corner → Break. The shift is paused until you sign in again with your PIN. brasio logs the duration of the break for the hours report.

6. Close your shift

At the end of your day, your name → Close shift. If it's the last shift of the day, after that you'll have to do the venue's end-of-day cashup. See End-of-service cashup.

Not working?

  • You can't remember your PIN: ask a manager to reset it. See Reset an employee's PIN.
  • The floor plan isn't showing every table: check Admin → Floor plan and make sure all tables are active (the floor plan editor is accessible from the admin menu).
  • The terminal has frozen: see Restart the terminal. Your shift and in-flight orders are saved.
