Taking card payments from the waiter’s mobile

Taking card payments from the waiter’s mobile
Also known as: ‘Charge’ button, closing a table from a mobile, quick table payment, charge from handheld.
As well as printing the provisional bill, you can now close the table using a card directly from your mobile, without having to take the customer or the bill to the till.
How to charge
In the table details on your mobile:
- Next to the Provisional bill button, tap Charge.
- brasio displays the total amount due and asks for confirmation.
- Confirm. The table is closed as a card payment for the full amount.
brasio closes the ticket, generates the Veri*factu record and prints the receipt, then releases the table — the same as if the payment had been taken via the till.
What to bear in mind
- Full amount only. The Charge button on the mobile closes 100% of the bill by card — it does not support tips or mixed payments (part cash, part card) via the mobile. To split the bill, add a tip or pay in cash, process the payment via the till.
- Requires all orders to have been sent. If there are items that haven’t been sent to the kitchen, or the table has orders queued and pending synchronisation (for example, if the mobile was offline), the Charge button is disabled until everything has been sent and synchronised.
- This button processes card payments using the standard brasio workflow — for automatic app switching to the SumUp app, see Paying with SumUp on mobile.
Close tables before closing the till
Always close all open tables — including those paid for via the mobile — before performing the closing reconciliation and generating the venue’s Z-report. A table paid for via mobile after the till has already been closed will not appear on that night’s Z-report. See Cash management and end-of-service.
Not working?
- The ‘Charge’ button is disabled: check whether there are any orders that haven’t been sent to the kitchen, or whether the mobile was offline and there are orders queued up waiting to be synchronised. Wait for them to be sent and the button will activate automatically.
- I need to split the bill or take payment in cash: do this from the till — the ‘Charge’ button on the mobile only closes the full amount paid by card.
- I closed the table via the mobile but it doesn’t appear in last night’s Z-report: if it was closed after the closing reconciliation, it will appear in the Z-report for the next shift, not the one from the previous night. Always close tables before the till is closed.
